Odile Stéphan, Professor at Université Paris-Sud and researcher at the Laboratoire de Physique des Solides d’Orsay, has been nominated as a junior member of the Institut Universitaire de France (IUF), according to the Journal Officiel in date of 3 August 2007.

The IUF selects every year a maximum of 40 persons, nominated for a five year period, renewable only once for senior members. Junior members must be less than 40 on January 1st of nomination year.

Slightly more than 1% of the total number of teaching researchers having tenure in French universities have benefited of still benefit from the statute of member of the IUF.

Delegated to IUF, members benefit from a reducing by two thirds of their teaching charge. Specific reseach funds are granted every year to the laboratory.
